Frank Curran
Honored April 26, 2025
Frank Curran was born in Derrada, Ballinamore, Leitrim, and came from a family of teachers, musicians and singers. Frank graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in commerce and an advanced diploma in education in 1972 from University College Dublin. He immigrated to New York and earned his master’s degree in economics from Fordham University. He was employed as a marketing executive in sales for AT&T/Lucent Technologies for more than 23 years. Frank later worked for DSET Corporation, where he was a sales director for IP Solutions and OSS Nokalva, where he was senior solution specialist.
Frank was a talented musician, singer and storyteller. He imparted his love of Irish arts and language by leading those around him in joyful tunes, songs and stories, and the beauty of Irish dance. He could be found side stage many weekends at a feis, usually with his nose in a book, because it made him too nervous to watch his daughters compete!
He played music with passion and loved learning from other musicians around him, always seeking to improve himself. He imparted his love of learning to those around him by leading them to inspirational literature and history.
Frank was kind and compassionate. Whether it be a musician or a friend in need, he strove to treat people with respect and kindness. He had wonderful times playing and sharing music with so many people, including those in this room tonight. He loved to laugh, and his bright personality lit up many gatherings.
He would be humbled to be honored by the CCÉ Mid-Atlantic Region. His family is touched that his memory has lived on and very grateful that he has been given this recognition. He is deeply missed by us all, today and every day.
Thank you to the CCÉ Mid-Atlantic Region for this wonderful honor!
